MIPRIMA is the Michigan Chapter of the national Public Risk Management Association (PRIMA).

MISSION STATEMENT

Our primary goal is to promote risk management effectiveness in public entities in order to preserve human and economic values.

ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION

Incorporated in 1981, MIPRIMA is an organization of public entity representatives including state, county and local units of government, educational institutions, road commissions, special purpose districts and other public bodies. Membership includes public sector elected and appointed officials, finance directors, personnel administrators, municipal attorney, managers and administrators and risk managers. Affiliate members include brokers/agents, consultants, third-party administrators, law firms and others serving the public sector.

  • Periodic newsletters filled with risk management tips, chapter news, legislative and regulatory updates affecting public sector risk management.
  • Forums for networking and sharing information.
  • Advocacy for state and national risk management issues.

At MIPRIMA, we are constantly expanding member services to meet the continuing risk management challenge. As a member of MIPRIMA, our board of directors and trustees represent you. The board meets regularly to plan conferences, review member services and direct activities of the chapter.

Special committees and their functions include:

  • Legislative Committee: Review pertinent legislation and court decisions.
  • Membership Committee: Promotes and enhances the membership.
  • Newsletter Committee: Publishes informational items for members.
  • Program Committee: Designs and produces member conferences.
  • Scholarship Committee: Responsible for recommending scholarships to qualified students interested in pursuing a career in public sector risk management.
